La Mega TV
We at TheBochinche.Com love the IDEA of the new Latino channel LA MEGA, especially since it is launching in NEW YORK where we would be available 24 hours a day for cameos and personal appearances (check your local listings for The Bochinche.Com folks!). However, we were a bit, uh, TAKEN ABACK, when we saw an advertisement featuring what appeared to be someone painted in BLACK FACE!!
EEEK!
Now before we get all MALCOLM Xsimo, we want to give LA MEGA the benefit of the doubt, that maybe (just maybe) this is some really HIGH BROW comedy sketch routine that pokes fun at people POKING FUN at BLACK people (yes, that's it). Or, at the VERY LEAST, maybe it's some really old and well known character that we don't know about ('cause we're too young?) and in which case it MIGHT get a pass (for like, one episode). OTHERWISE, this is just plain TIRED! It's 2010 folks and if you have to resort to such basic, low rent comedy routines to sell your SHOW, then maybe it's time to find a day job!
Latinos come in ALL FLAVORS (and we've tasted many! snap snap) so to poke fun at dark skinned latinos is just STANK!!!! UNITY FOLKS!
AND before anyone screams "it's a joke, it doesn't have any impact on anyone", let me direct you to recent photos of one SAMMY SOSA! (skin rejuvenation anyone?)
and before some OTHER folks scream "but my family is from SPAIN"....I advise you to have a little CHAT with your great great great ABUELITA....and CHECK the roots......
