Law Betrays Racists who gave it Life

"Anchor Child" is a derogatory label for a child born to a mother who is undocumented. Any child born in a U.S. territory automatically acquires U.S. citizenship as dictated by the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The 14th Amendment was ratified in 1868 to protect the rights of African-Americans who had been liberated from slavery by Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863.

Currently, Reductionists advocate a limit on immigration legal or illegal citing that immigrants are a source of environmental, social and economic problems. Reductionists are racist and xenophobic individuals bent on the creation of discriminatory political movements against Mexicans and other Latinos in general. "Birthright Citizenship" admittedly is a law that encourages the birth of more than 300,000 babies whose parents hope their child's legal status will justify their pleas to remain in the U.S.

However, it is ironic that the ratification of the 14th Amendment, stimulated by racism against newly freed Black slaves, now bites the racist hands of modern anti-immigrant haters. The 14th Amendment turned out to be a double-edged sword!
