The Bochinche.Com GOES HOME with "In The Height's" creator Lin Manuel Miranda!

That's right folks, WE HAD LIN MANUEL TAKE US HOME not only to Puerto Rico but also to INWOOD where this Tony Award winning actor, singer, writer, director and Bochinche.com lover began! It all began in a quaint little village on the out-skirts of Puerto Rico. A beautiful young local girl would fall madly in love with a handsome young farmhand and soon the two would embark on a magical journey of love and passion....they would name their first child Lin Manuel Miranda and, uh.........oh wait...that was last week's telenovela ......Let's start again.
Born in The City (no, not the one on MTV...the one with Lady Liberty) to parents who were also educators at New York University, Lin Manuel Miranda knows all too well the experience growing up 'Rican in New York. Raised in Inwood, New York, (think Washington Heights but further up) Manuel attended both Hunter High School as well as Wesleyan University. During his college years, he wrote and produced, as well as starred in, several musicals and other productions, including Shakespeare. He began writing "In the Heights" during his sophmore year and would spend the next few years re-writing it until it's final incarnation which debuted on Broadway in 2007.
A highly accomplished artist, Manuel also wrote the indepedent film "Clayton's Friends", guest-starred on "The Sopranos", translated lyrics for "West Side Story" with Stephen Sondheim, composed and acted in the 2009 revival of Sesame Street, is working on a hip hop album and can be seen in this season of ABC's "House"! Whew! and this guy is, maybe, 30??. Not only that, but Manuel is the youngest person EVER to receive an honorary doctorate from Yeshiva University!
It was no suprise he was being honored in Puerto Rico (where the Bochinche.com caught up with him....'cause we're bi...coastal) with an award highlighting his many, MANY, MANY achievements. We were thrilled to talk with him and can't wait to see what this talented boricua has planned for 2010.....check him out....right here.....
