Obama's American Latino Museum

President Barack Obama Comissions Study For First Ever American Latino Museum

The Bochinche is proud to announce (no, we didn't break the story) that President Barak Obama has commissioned a study for the first ever museum of the American Latino!  Well, okay, he commissioned a study of the "potential" for an American Latino Museum but we don't want to quibble 'cause ya gotta start somewhere!

Everybody knows that the Latin community has made enormous contributions to the worlds of art, music, politics, literature, medicine, food (luv a tostone) etc., so it's only fitting that this study looks at bringing all these contributions under one roof.

From the Press Release:

On May 8, 2008 the Commission to Study the Potential Creation of a National Museum of the American Latino Act was signed into law. It created a 23 member commission, made up of appointees of the President and House and Senate leadership, tasked with studying over a two year period the feasibility of and plan for a new national museum in the nation’s capital that is dedicated to portraying the art, history, and culture of the Latino population of the United States.

The President has lined up some heavy hitters from all walks of Latino life to preside over the commission.  You might not know them all, but here's a hint as to one...."come on everybody, gotta do that conga, I know you can't control yourself any longer"
