BEAUTIFUL ART NOT IN MUSEUMS
BUT IN THE MIDDLE OF RIO'S SANTA MARTA FAVELA !!!!!
Residents of Rio's Santa Marta favela , after years of being feared as a deadly Neighborhood , decided to give their plaza an "EXTREME " makeover . With the help of 2 Dutch Artists who could see immediately the beauty that was evident and the local Brasilian paint company that offered free paint all that was needed was approval of favela residents . The 2 Dutch Artists immediately moved into Villa Cruzeiro , one of the city's MOST Dangerous favelas , to show goodwill and hopefully get the backing of favela residents . Dutch artists Dre Urhahn and Jeroen Koolhaas together with favela residents First created , " Boy flying Kite " which got the attention of local media AND put
Villa Cruzeiro on the map for something other than drug dealing and killings . "It gives the community life!" said Edimar Marcelinho Franco who helped paint 34 buildings and earned himself the title of Professional Painter . After the Dutch artists and favela residents finished the first painting , the residents of Santa Marta were excited about what was possible for their neighborhood and as you can see , they exceeded even their own expectations !!!!
TheBochinche would like to recognize the Santa Marta Favela for realizing that they have to help themselves in order to advance AND Dre Urhahn and Jeroen Koolhaas for realizing that sometimes people need a helping hand to get where they want to go .............To the Santa Marta Favela ,
Know that your Brothers and Sisters All over the World See you and are Proud .
That's TheBochinche !!!!!!!!!
